Settling In at Fort Knox

I went to my first Doctor's appointment today at Fort Knox. It wasn't an actual examination, just a review of my Fort Hood paperwork. I still weigh just 156 lbs, so I'm not really gaining any weight yet. Stu weighed himself too and was 186 lbs, which was sort of depressing...I'm only 30 lbs less than my husband. The nurse asked about any pains I'm having and I gave her the rundown of heartburn, round ligament pain and low back pain. She said she was a little concerned that I might have a bladder or urinary tract infection, so I had to go to the lab for that. I guess I'll hear something if I do and not hear if I don't. I go back around May 1st for the glucose test and a few other blood tests, then I go back to the hospital for an official visit with the midwife on May 13th.

So in the process of finding the Army hospital we have attempted to find our way around Fort Knox. Unlike Fort Hood, Fort Knox was a town before it was an Army post, so the roads are not laid out in nice parallel lines like Fort Hood. We found the hospital, PX, commissary, class six and post office. We still don't know where Stu will be working, but the post only has two or three gates and they are all off of the main highway, so it won't be very hard for him to get to work from any of the gates.

Here's a picture of our house and our cats settling in.

And here's a picture of the deer we had come through the back yard a few nights ago. It seems they come through about everyday and about the same time too!

Moving Day

Moving day has finally arrived. We're leaving Texas tomorrow. We hope to be on the road by noon and in Louisville by Saturday evening. Lynn and I went to my last doctor appointment at Fort Hood today and everything still looks good. His heart beat was in the 140s, so its coming down from the butterfly speed it was in the first weeks. The midwife told me about a few things to expect down the road, like breathlessness, sharp rib pain etc, but she said the biggest worry is blood clots on the way home. We'll have to stop more often than we would if I wasn't pregnant, but that shouldn't be too hard when we've rented the largest truck in Penske's fleet and we also are towing a car behind it. I don't know that we'll make it much farther than two hours without needing more gas.

This is a picture of our rig outside the hotel near Hot Springs, Arkansas. This was the exact same hotel we stayed in on our way to Texas...even creepier, same room, dinner (Taco Bell) and company (Lynn & Wes) too!

Latest Ultrasound

Stu and I just came from the doctor's office and we received lots of good news! The baby is growing a lot, he's up over a pound now from 5 oz the last time. The doctor saw no abnormalities or anything to worry about. He's still measuring a week early...22 weeks instead of 23, but they still think he'll catch up. So, as of right now my due date remains July 26th.

The only other news to report is that we are moving again and this time it's home to Fort Knox!! We are so happy that our families and close friends will be around for the birth of our first baby. Our time in Texas has been fun and we've met so many nice people, but I'm definitely ready to go back home.

We will start our move by taking a trip to New Orleans...sounds kind of backwards I know, but we wanted to take the trip before we left Texas. We head for NOLA on August 4th and come back on the 8th. At that point we'll pick up the moving van and load up! We hope to be on the road by the morning of the 10th. It's a tightly choreographed orchestra I've weaved, but if all goes well we should be back in Kentucky by Easter! See you guys soon!! Enjoy the pictures of the ultrasound and feel free to email or comment if you need any explanations. I'll post some of my belly here in a few days!

Weekly Stats:
23 weeks--155 lbs--141 bpm

My Work Family

I must say that every time I say goodbye it is hard, but when a group of people take you in as one of they're own its even harder. My last day at Scott & White Hospital was yesterday and it was extremely bittersweet. I'm so excited about where we are going that its hard to be sad about leaving where we are.

The girls at work threw me a wonderful Going Away/Baby Shower yesterday and they gave me a great start on the baby's clothing collection. I also got things that I didn't know I'll need, but I guess I'll find out about those sooner or later.

I'd like to say this is my surprised reaction, but since I wasn't surprised, I'll have to confess that it was just a bad picture, the next one is of his first pair of wranglers, too cute huh?

Here is a pair of swimming trunks, 0-3 months! Too cute I had to share with everyone. I don't know if he'll do a lot of swimming, but I guess he can wear them in the bath tub.

Below are some of the ladies I work with, directly below are Donna and Kathy. These are my walking buddies and together we have covered a many mile in that building.

This is Carol Lee, she's my fellow Twi-Hard. She introduced me to the books and gave me a Team Edward pin at the shower. Notice the calender between us ;)

Melanie, Me and Glenda...my fellow mailbox ladies. They taught me everything I know!

What A Season!!!

Wow, what a season, and it ain’t over yet!! I wanted to make a few notes here on the blog so I wouldn’t forget. Stu is constantly poking fun at all the crazy nicknames I give our players and this year’s roster is one of the best:

#1—Terrance Williams, everyone knows this one, T-Will
#2—Preston Knowles, Peanut
#5—Earl Clark, everyone else might call him E5, but I find my self saying, “Dang it Earl!”
#10—Edgar Sosa, Sammy Sosa
#21—Jerad Swopshire, Swoppy
#23—Terrance Jennings, TJ
#24—Samardo Samuels, Sammy
#33—Andre McGee, Carlton (from Fresh Prince of Bel Air)
#34—Jerry Smith, no nickname here either, but like with Earl I said this a lot, “Way to go Jerry, don’t foul…don’t foul…please don’t foul!” You know what I mean it seemed after every big shot he’d immediately commit a reach in foul 50 feet from the basket!

I love my Cardinals and couldn’t be prouder of their accomplishments. I never thought when I was there on New Year’s Eve for the UNLV loss that things would turn out this way, but some how they’ve learned to play together and it has paid dividends.

20 Week Appointment

This past Tuesday I went for my 20 week appointment and we received all good news. I have started feeling a lot of movement in the last couple of weeks. It's a really exciting time right now, I can't wait for Stu to feel it.

We went for an ultrasound two weeks ago and discovered we were having a boy. We are both happy about that, although we both assumed it would be a girl. The ultrasound showed that he is measuring about a week behind schedule. That means either our timing is off about a week or he is going to be a small baby. However if you know my husband, and most of my followers do, you know I don't even have a chance at a small baby. I go for a second ultrasound on the 31st and if he is still small then they may change my due date by a week to August 4th.

Weekly Stats:
20 weeks--153lbs--155bpm

18 weeks--??lbs--??bpm--BOY!!!!

16 Week Appointment

Sorry its been so long everyone, not much going on here in Texas. Stu and I had an OB appointment this past Tuesday and we received more good news. The heartbeat is still strong and he or she is flipping all around in there. It took the midwife a while to find the heartbeat because she said it was moving so much. I'm measuring exactly where I should be for my expected due date, so it looks like we're still on for late July.

The technical information:
16 weeks--149 lbs--155 bpm (fetal heart rate)

Here's a picture at 13 weeks:

Obviously I like these pants, oh and I hung the mirror too!
