False Alarm...Thank Goodness!

Well a burglar alarm is an exciting way to start the morning!! I received a call from ADT this morning letting me know the motion detector had gone off. I immediately assumed my frisky furry friends were the culprits, especially since none of the door or window sensors were tripped. You can never be sure though right, so Stu and I thought we ought to check the house to make sure everything was okay. I car-pool to work, so I don't have a car and I work 30 miles from our house so its quite a long walk...Stu is in the field and also doesn't have access to a vehicle so we were both stuck. My boss was kind enough to let me borrow her 2008 Dodge Charger V8, so I headed home a little fearful of what I would encounter and of every rock, passing truck and any other thing that would damage the car as well. When I got to the house I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary, so I went ahead and opened the garage door. I peered through the front door to see if I could catch anyone moving around at the sound of the garage opening, but I didn't see anything. I chose a weapon from the garage, at first it was the tennis racquet, but I thought that wouldn't inflict much damage, so I settled for a 6 iron (assuming of course that the woods were lighter and wouldn't inflict much damage either). So with the golf club in hand I opened the door and silenced the alarm. I first checked the kitchen windows for damage, then the living room and finally the bedroom. All the while Fletcher (Stu's cat) is frantically pacing around me, nearly tripping me through the whole house inspection. No windows broken, nothing missing, as far as I could tell. So the pet friendly motion detector is not so pet friendly after all. At least not when you have cats that can jump behind the TV over the fireplace!
